As we revealed around the time of our Superman event, our latest screening was for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with an incredible group from Girls Inc.
I’ll apologize for getting this posted so late. I was out on vacation the week before the event. So I pretty much got home and was scrambling to make sure everything was in order for our Fantastic Four event that took place this past Sunday (July 27th). After that, I was busy catching up on everything else I’d missed out on while on vacation, so it’s been a busy few days!

Regardless, the event was a ton of fun. For this one, rented out a theater at our local Cinemark, where we’ve done a few events in the past (Super Mario Bros, The Lion King, and even our first ever screening). To fill out the seats we worked with some “old friends” at Girls Inc. of Tarrant County.
We always enjoy working with this organization (and have worked with multiple chapters), and this time was no different. Every single seat we had was filled up with a great mix of families including both older kids and younger.

The film itself was a ton of fun, with a great message about family. As always, watching these kind of movies with a theater full of kids is an experience all on its own. There’s nothing quite like it when a bunch of excited kids are gasping, clapping, and laughing at all the right spots. It’s infectious.
I was actually sitting next to a younger kid who was REALLY into the film, ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ every time the heroes used their powers and excitedly yelling “It’s clobberin’ time!” when The Thing finally said it in the film. It was clear the kid was having the time of his life and served as a great reminder of why we do this.

Speaking of which, The Fantastic Four looks like it will close out our Summer! With FIVE events in roughly two months of time, it was a jam-packed season for us, and the most we’ve ever been able to do in such a short time (previous years were around 6-7 events TOTAL). That means our comeback has been a success in a number of ways.
We’re looking ahead to the Fall now, and hoping that we can setup some fun events for the films on the horizon (like Zootopia 2 or Spongebob, maybe even Wicked for Good). What we’re able to do, however, largely depends on your help. We’re still a little ways off from reaching out fundraising goal to help us keep doing stuff for the rest of the year. As such, I’m hoping you’ll take a moment to help share our fundraiser (or even just this article) to spread the word about what we do.
Until the next event!
