We had an unexpected opportunity to get (re)started earlier than expected, with Disney’s new Lilo & Stitch film! Check out some images from the event!

Surprise! We’re back quicker than expected! I wish we could take the credit for this one, but all the thanks goes to our lovely, local, Disney press contacts. They’ve worked with us in the past on some events (and with me personally on the entertainment journalism side of my career), and when they heard ReelOutreach was “back in action” they reached out to us.

They were putting together a promotional screening for Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch movie and offered to set aside some seats for us. We were thrilled, and honored, they would think of us, even after our hiatus. As such, we jumped at the opportunity, even though we only had a few days to get ready (literally, we got the email the Thursday before)!

Thankfully we were able to reach out to a local group we’ve worked with a number of times in the past, Alliance For Children, and they were able to send some families to fill up the seats given to us. Due to the timingโ€”and nature of the eventโ€”it was a smaller scale evening on our end (we’re only a section of the theater seen in the pics here), without any goodies this time around.

Nonetheless, it was still an amazing time and the kiddos in attendance were (quite literally) bouncing with excitement. I’ve said it before online, and I’ll say it again, there’s nothing like watching these kind of films with a theater full of happy kids. The energy they bring to a screening is absolutely infectious. When you hear the theater roar in laughter/giggles it’s impossible not to be swept up in it, resulting in an unforgettable experience no matter your thoughts on the movie overall.

Which is exactly why we do what we do. Getting to enjoy a movie with a crowd is an experience unlike any other, and something these kids rarely get the chance to do. We’re so excited to be back, even though this specific event was in a more limited capacity.

That said, our fundraiser for our upcoming Superman event (and the future of our organization overall) is currently underway! If you want to see more of these events, be sure to check out our fundraising page to donate. And even if you can’t donate, sharing our message goes a long way.

About

At ReelOutreach, our belief is everyone deserves a night (or day) at the movies and kids, who have no control over their circumstances, need it the most. Between the ever rising costs of tickets and concessions, the enjoyment of sitting down to enjoy a film is sadly out of reach for many.

Here, you’ll find all of our blog posts which will consist of news updates from our organization, announcements of upcoming events/fundraising, and more.
